Kolibrie Energy is a renewable commodities merchant, active in origination, collection, trade and financing. Our focus is on the collection and marketing of waste oils and residues from Latin America to produce biofuels. Kolibrie Energy was founded in 2021 by our senior management and is supported by experienced investors. The company has grown to become a waste oil collector and trader with a presence in Mexico, Central and South America. Kolibrie Energy is a trusted partner to suppliers in Latin America and customers in Europe and the USA.

Santiago co-founded Kolibrie Energy after working as a tropical oil trader in Europe, Singapore, and Latin America. He has experience in managing sourcing and exporting programs for palm oil refineries.
Wijnand Pols
Co-Founder & Commercial Director
Wijnand co-founded Kolibrie Energy in 2020 and supports the company as Commercial Director. Wijnand has experience as a palm oil and biodiesel trader, and has worked in commodity finance, supporting global commodity producers and traders with financial solutions.
Erik del Rio
Director Finance & Operations
Erik joined the Kolibrie Energy team in 2021 as a commercial advisor and is currently the Finance & Operations Director for Kolibrie. Erik has experience in trading, operations, and supply of energy commodities. He has also worked in financial services as a consultant and investment banker.
Ian Chong
Consultant
Ian joined the team in 2023 as a business and commercial advisor to the Kolibrie team on helping develop the renewable chemistry and oleochemicals business. Ian has over 18 years of professional experience in banking, finance and business management and has worked across multiple geographic regions. He has a background in Biochemical Engineering with a specialization in biotechnology.
